Daniel 3: 4-12
Deep down in Nebuchadnezzar’s heart, he must have known by the reason of the interpretation of his dream that his government could not last forever. It was not a surprise that he made the golden image to try and solidify his reign as opposed to what GOD proposed. The revelation of GOD comes with solution. But because this solution means nothing less than destruction of all that Babylon represents, those who embody this revelation must face persecution and trials that would test their faith.
And because of Babylon’s knowledge of the revelation related to her, she would want to keep herself safe and would always want the LORD’s people to abide by these safety measures. She always proposes in her heart that as long as everyone accepts her reign and rulership, everything will be alright but little did she know that even the approval of men (even of GOD) cannot stop what GOD had already purposed in His heart. Worship of Babylon starts from endorsing what is not GOD’s and it gradually moves to buying into her agenda.
This is another test of faith and absolute allegiance to GOD come what may. We must not allow Babylon to drag us into what is majorly directed towards defying GOD. Our acceptance of the works of those who are not friend with GOD is no different than bowing down before the statute of Nebuchadnezzar. Accepting such works means that we accept the personalities of those who are at the helm of decision regardless of their sheer unGODliness.
We must know the heart of GOD concerning Babylon and even as we know, we must not buy into Babylon’s measure to avert the judgments that are already pronounced. Humanistic approach is not GOD’s approach!
As much as the Godly’s primary duty is to maintain Godliness that is established by the power of God, he is also responsible for bringing those in doubt to that point of assuredness in God by showing them the Truth with gentleness and snatching those who are bound for destruction with every force necessary.
To some, he is meant to portray God’s greatness which is in His abundance of His mercy; thereby establishing a deep reverence for God in their hearts. And if God wills it, He may give him the wisdom to craft out systems and ordinances that would guide the doubting minds and hearts in functioning according to God’s will till they begin to walk with HIM on their own accord.
** It must be noted that Godliness does not care about what people want but the express will of the LORD. Even at that, Godliness must be enforced by God’s wisdom so that people who are meant to live by it would have no excuse for doing otherwise.
Jude 1-2, 20-21
What should the Godly do to prevent him from crossing to the realm of the unGodly?
He must keep on building himself in the most holy faith that stems from meditation in the Word of the LORD and being in communion with God through the Holy Spirit.
The prayers he offers per time should be those that are at the core of the will of the LORD; hoping that what is done in Heaven becomes a reality on earth. It is his faith in CHRIST and prayer for the furtherance of His Kingdom that would keep him in His unfailing love till the very end.
The only assurance to Godliness is constancy of focus on God with no respect to what is happening around. It is the Godly’s most holy faith in God and His Son that shapes his thoughts, intents and actions.
Jude 9-10, 17-19
The unGOdly seems to have an edge against the Godly-he has the support of the world system that majorly operates based on instincts that is not different from that of an animal. Because of this, a man given to the Spirit and the rulership of the LORD does not give in to debates and arguments with the unGodly.
Because the unGodly is operating in the system that supports his lifestyle, it would seem like he is more successful than the Godly. To try and compete with him would be to cross the realm of God to that of animals. If we want to define and success and live by its definition, we must ask from God what He knows to be success because to define success according to the view of the unGodly is the beginning of crossing the line (the line is getting blurrier from time to time).
The response of the Godly is to rebuke the unGodly by allowing God to take charge of the situation. The way the Godly lives must rebuke the life of the unGodly as truth always rebukes lies. Being Godly should mean that the power of the LORD is present and available for the Godly to enforce GOdliness. The reason the unGodly thrives is because the Godly fails to rebuke him . . . UnGodliness must not be given a chance for dialogue or reason; it must be rooted out at the very instance of its awareness.
